Vale — Collector-Grade Himalayan Green Phantom Quartz
Vale is an extraordinary Himalayan quartz specimen distinguished by substantial crystal growth, preserved green matrix, and — most notably — multiple green phantom formations suspended within its points.
Measuring approximately 12” wide × 6.5” deep × 11” tall, Vale is composed of a relatively small number of substantial quartz points rising from a richly textured, green-toned natural matrix. Unlike the predominantly ice-clear Himalayan quartz represented elsewhere in The Crystal Quill collection, Vale offers something entirely different: a visible record of the crystal’s growth preserved within the quartz itself.
Two prominent green phantom formations can be clearly seen within the large points across the front of the specimen. A third, subtler phantom-like formation reveals itself from the right angle or under directed light, with additional traces of green mineral growth appearing throughout.
Crystals Within Crystals
Phantom quartz forms when a crystal experiences an interruption during its growth and mineral material settles across its existing surface. When the quartz later resumes growing, that earlier termination can become enclosed within the new crystal — preserving the outline of one stage of growth inside another.
The result is quite literally a crystal within a crystal.
In Vale, the green phantoms echo the coloration of the original matrix still present throughout the specimen, creating a remarkable visual connection between the exterior geology and the growth history preserved inside the quartz.
The surrounding points range from translucent to moderately clear. One of the primary front-facing crystals displays particularly beautiful clarity, while another remains transparent enough to reveal portions of the matrix and internal formations beneath its surface.
Natural fractures travel through several of the substantial points, producing tucked-away rainbows that appear as the specimen catches changing light. Sparkling traces of green matrix remain across portions of the quartz as well, further contributing to Vale’s unusually earthy character.
A Visible Record of the Mountain
Vale retains evidence not only of how it grew, but of how it ultimately left the mountain.
Miner’s markings and extraction cuts remain visible in several areas of the specimen, including portions where an initial approach to removing the formation appears to have been abandoned before extraction continued elsewhere. Several points along the reverse also show damage consistent with the mining process.
These characteristics are disclosed as part of the specimen’s natural and extraction history and should be considered when viewing or purchasing Vale.
Rather than presenting as a perfectly untouched formation, Vale preserves an unusually tangible record of its journey — from successive stages of crystal growth, to mineral deposition, to its eventual recovery from the Himalayas.
For the collector drawn to geological history as much as conventional perfection, those details are an integral part of what makes the specimen fascinating.

Display Considerations
Because Vale’s natural underside and rear are relatively thin and uneven, unsupported freestanding display is not recommended.
For long-term security and preservation, we recommend an appropriately engineered custom stand or placement against a secure vertical surface where the risk of tipping can be minimized. A stand is not currently included.
