We don't carry a wall of candles at The Crystal Quill. We carry the ones we actually burn at home.

Everything that earns a place at The Crystal Quill is intentionally chosen, and our candle collection is no exception.

AEMBR has been a personal favorite long before these candles ever found their way onto our shelves. They burn beautifully. They fill a room without becoming overwhelming. The fragrances feel layered, sophisticated and decidedly more fine fragrance than traditional candle — and they're the candles we reach for again and again in our own home.

So when it came time to choose candles for The Crystal Quill, there really wasn't a collection to curate.

There was AEMBR.

Founded by physician Dr. Kristina Braly, AEMBR is a female-founded fragrance house built around beautiful scent without compromising ingredient standards. Their candles are hand-poured in small batches in Houston using a coconut-apricot wax blend and thoughtfully formulated fragrance.

Lavender Haze

Forget everything you think you know about lavender candles.

Lavender Haze is warm, sultry and sophisticated — pairing French lavender with rich Egyptian amber, black myrrh, tonka, musk and sage. The lavender is there, but this isn't a sharp, herbal spa fragrance. It's softer. Moodier. Almost enveloping.

The kind of scent that makes a room feel instantly calmer, warmer and a little more beautiful.

If ever a candle belonged at The Crystal Quill, it's this one.

Bibliotek was inspired by the atmosphere of magnificent old libraries — aged books, polished woods, worn leather and the lingering warmth of a fireplace. AEMBR spent months developing the fragrance, drawing inspiration from places both real and imagined, including Oxford's Bodleian Library and the sort of impossibly beautiful library one might expect to find in a fairytale.

Rosewood and lignin evoke old pages and wood shelving, while fireplace embers, leather, whiskey, dark tonka and sandalwood create something warm, intellectual and wonderfully atmospheric.

It's books without smelling dusty. Leather without becoming masculine. Smoke without smelling like a campfire.

Essentially, The Crystal Quill in candle form.

Hygge

Orange Peel • Cinnamon • Cranberry • Apple Cider • Red Wine • Woods

Named for the Danish concept of creating warmth, comfort and contentment in life's simple moments, Hygge smells exactly like the feeling its name suggests.

Bright citrus and cinnamon open into cranberry, red currant and warm apple cider before settling into red wine and woods. Cozy without being sugary and festive without becoming novelty-holiday, it's the fragrance equivalent of coming inside on a cold evening, pouring something warm and staying awhile.

A crackling wooden wick adds one final layer to the experience.

Why We Love AEMBR

These aren't candles we brought into the shop simply because candles pair nicely with crystals.

We brought them in because we already loved them.

AEMBR is our go-to candle brand at home, and rather than filling our shelves with dozens of fragrances, we chose three that we genuinely wanted to share with you.

Light one beside your favorite mineral specimen. Burn one while pulling cards, reading, journaling or winding down for the evening. Or simply let it make an ordinary room feel a little more intentional.

Sometimes creating a beautiful space is its own kind of ritual.
