AA+ Grade Hematoid Quartz Freeform | Fire Quartz

Clear Quartz, touched by iron, filled with rainbows and set on fire by the earth.

This is, quite simply, the finest specimen of Hematoid Quartz we've encountered.

An exceptional AA+ grade Fire Quartz, this polished freeform combines extraordinary clarity and richly saturated iron inclusions with something even more spectacular: rainbows — everywhere.

Both sides of the specimen reveal them, but each tells a slightly different story. One side is splashed with individual pockets of brilliant rainbow flash, appearing throughout the Quartz as the piece moves through the light. Turn it over and the effect changes almost completely — the opposite side carries what appears to be an expansive sparkling rainbow sheen, illuminating across the surface and interior rather than appearing only in isolated flashes.

It's the kind of mineral you can turn in your hands twenty times and somehow discover something new on the twenty-first.

At its heart is Quartz, but during the crystal's formation, iron-rich minerals — most notably Hematite — became included within and alongside the Quartz. These inclusions create the extraordinary clouds, wisps and layers of rust red, burnt orange, golden yellow and deep earthy brown seemingly suspended inside the crystal.

The result is a stone where clarity meets fire — and somehow, in this particular specimen, fire meets rainbow.

The rainbows themselves aren't added or artificially created coloration. In Quartz, these flashes can occur when light interacts with internal fractures and planes within the crystal, refracting and separating into spectral color. What began as part of the stone's natural geological history becomes one of its most beautiful features.

This specimen has been polished into an organic flame-like freeform, a silhouette that feels almost impossibly appropriate for Fire Quartz. The shape follows the visual movement already happening inside the mineral, drawing the eye upward through layers of iron, clarity, sparkle and color.

Sometimes called Fire Quartz, Hematoid Quartz brings together minerals with beautifully complementary energetic traditions. Clear Quartz has long been associated with clarity, amplification and intention, while Hematite is traditionally connected with grounding, stability and strength.

Together, they're believed to create an energetic balance between clarity and grounding — vision and action — fire and earth.

Energetic Associations

  • Grounding + stability

  • Clarity + focus

  • Confidence + personal power

  • Motivation + forward movement

  • Transformation + resilience

  • Balance between thought + action

  • Amplification of intention while remaining rooted

This can be an especially meaningful stone for the dreamers, overthinkers and idea-makers — those who carry tremendous energy internally but occasionally need help directing it somewhere tangible.

And then there's the flame itself.

Across cultures and traditions, fire has represented transformation, passion, courage, purification and rebirth. Paired with Quartz naturally painted by iron in the colors of flame and filled with unexpected rainbows, the symbolism feels almost built into the specimen.

Display this one somewhere the light can find it.

Turn it.

Look at both sides.

Look again.

This is not a specimen you can fully experience from a single angle — and photographs can only begin to capture what happens when its rainbows meet the light.

Measurements and weights are taken by hand and are as close to accurate as possible. Slight variations may occur due to human measurement.

Natural mineral specimens may contain internal fractures, veils, inclusions, pits, surface variations and other characteristics created during formation. In this specimen, some of those internal structures are precisely what allow light to refract into its extraordinary rainbow displays — part of its geological story rather than imperfections.
